Allesley Park, just 2 miles from Keresley, is a picturesque historic park that offers a unique parkland experience, with footpaths for a lovely walk around the park and a dog walking venue. This Green Flag Awarded Park has facilities for families there is a newly refurbished equipped play area that offers a variety of physical and interactive challenges for kids of all ages and natural play area along with picnic areas nearby.

The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry is filled with exciting things to see and do, with everything from a wide range of talks, events and workshops catering for adults and families. The Museum is full of wonderful collections such as; Visual Arts, Social and Industrial History, Archaeology and Natural History. The Herbert’s collections include millions of items from everything including rare insects, industrial machinery, and everyday household items to beautiful paintings by brilliant artists. The Gallery even has a Sculpture Gallery for families, including two large scale heads by William Chattaway. During the school holidays the Herbert puts on loads of events to get everybody involved while learning at the same time, from crafts to early years play days.

Plantasia and Maze world in nearby Atherstone is a must see, with the largest collection of permanent mazes in the UK. With six mazes that are themed around the continents of the world. The Canadian Hedge Maze is shaped like a maple leaf, an Antarctic Labyrinth that is amazingly made from over 600 white stones, a very traditional English hedge maze, a Japanese Trellis Maze that has been created by 400 panels and beautiful climbing plants, an African Reed Fence Maze in the shape of a Rhino’s horn and finally an Australian Wooden Pole Maze that is made up from the Eucalyptus plants. There is so much to do at Plantasia, why not enjoy a bird’s-eye view from the tree top trails? There is even a talking sunflower that talks you through the amazing journey of the natural world in the interactive visitor center. With loads of animals to see such as the Kune Kune Pigs, Shetland Ponies, Alpacas, Donkeys, Goats, Chickens and you can even see the Deer herd! On the same site you will also find an impressive Dobbies Garden World including a massive indoor area dedicated to leisure, pets etc – before you know it you could quite easily have spent the day here!

Just 14 miles away you will find the medieval town of Warwick, famed for its magnificent castle. The Mill Garden is situated at the bottom of Mill Street, famous for its quality of plants and unbelievable setting. It took Arthur Measures over sixty years to create this beautiful picturesque scene! Over one side of the river is the ruin of the mediaeval bridge! It truly is a beautiful place to visit and at £1.50 to get in; it is defiantly worth taking a relaxing stroll around!

Further afield, around a 45 minute drive away you will find Stratford upon Avon – well worth a day out to discover the delights of this Shakespearian Town! The Royal Shakespeare Theatre has been open since 193 and can seat over an impressive 1040 people and hosts performances such as; Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Henry IV Part I and Part II. In this amazing building on the third-floor there is a posh Rooftop Restaurant, with its own cocktail bar and beautiful meals being served! If it’s more of a quick snack and coffee that you’re after there is a Riverside Café on the ground floor. There are even tours available so you can take a sneak peek behind the scenes and family tours. So no matter what you’re after; a play, a fancy dinner or a tour around this beautiful building, The Royal Shakespeare Theatre really does have it all.
